Packhuskajen stretches from Stora Bommen, eastwards towards Jussi Björlings plats, by the Gothenburg Opera.

The Packhuskajen is an important cultural-historical place in Gothenburg and part of the fortifications around old Gothenburg was on the edge of the Packhuskajen. The American ships sailed from here and after that Packhuskajen was important for the industrial city of Gothenburg as part of the historic harbor route, which stretches from Rosenlund via Stora Bommen to Lilla Bommen's harbor basin.
