Gothenburg City Theater is Sweden's oldest and one of Sweden's largest dramatic theatres. The building, which is a listed building, was inaugurated in 1934 and was designed by Carl Bergsten. The architecture is a mixture of 20s classicism and 30s functionalism. In stages, the house has been renovated, rebuilt, added to and adapted to the requirements of the time. In autumn 2021, a new restaurant, a more accessible Lilla Scen and a ticket office more similar to its original appearance were added, among other things. Even the foyer bar, which is the place where the audience has a break during performances on the big stage, has been refreshed and regained its former glory.
